At school it was often the chubby, un-athletic child who found himself between the posts.

I photographed these Sunday stoppers regularly over a period of 4 years, adopting the same position every week in line with the 6 yard box which would allow me to capture the balletic elegance of the goal-kick.

The work was largely shot on film and the following images represent a fraction of the project.
